Gandhinagar – Capital of Gujarat
Gandhinagar city is the capital of Gujarat and it is the greenest capital city of Asia. More than 50% of the city area has a green cover. Located at the bank of the river Sabarmati, Gandhinagar is the planned and second capital of Gujarat after the initial days of Ahmedabad. Located approximately 25 kilometers from Ahmedabad, the capital is also sharing a unique twin city project with Ahmedabad.
Gandhinagar is a city of all activities. Be it political, commercial, educational or tourism, Gandhinagar has all. This well-planned city has 30 sectors and all sectors have planned facilities for a public garden, commercial complex, schools, private and government residents, and government offices. Gujarat has always been an important center for Hinduism and Jainism. Some of the great temples to visit in Gujarat are Ambaji, Somnath Jyotirlinga, Dwarka, Akshardham Gandhinagar, Bechraji, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga – Dwarka and Pavagadh. The history of Gujarat stretches from the era of Indus Valley Civilization with some of the ancient places like Lothal and Dholavira. Ahmedabad is the first and only UNESCO World Heritage City in India. On the other hand, the state is very futuristic, it hosts and boasts many industrial conglomerates. Some of the proud moments of Gujarat’s Industrial development includes the world’s largest oil refinery at Jamnagar, 8 out of every 10 diamonds used worldwide are either cut or polished in Surat, the country’s biggest textile industry is in Surat, Anand’s Amul Milk Federation, Ahmedabad is largest pharmaceuticals manufacturing hub and so on.
Social diversity includes various customs, cultures, festivals, celebrations, costumes and cousins spread across the region. People of Gujarat are also considered to be humble natured, food-loving, steadfast and smart-working.
