Born on May 1st, 1960 Gujarat state was separated from the state of Mumbai. Today Gujarat is the most colorful and vibrant state of India with excellence in all fields of business, research and development, infrastructure, advanced education and overall development of its population. Gujarat has one of the top GDP in the country. With this contemporary extravagant, Gujarat is also known for its rich history, culture, and heritage which dates back to thousands of years. Gujarat is home to numerous ancient temples, mosques, other religious places, historical monuments, palaces, step well and heritage sites which are enough to bring you back into the golden era of Gujarat. There are also several national wonders like Rann of Kutch, Narmada Dam & Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s Statue of Unity and Asiatic Lion’s home – The Gir National Park are located in Gujarat. Also, it’s a contribution to Indian freedom struggle through the Mahatma Gandhi & Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel is unforgettable. Gujarat homes some of the oldest civilizations in the world in-terms of Harappan and Indus Valley Civilization. Gujarat is one of the leading industrialized states in India with one of the top-ranked GDP about Rs. 17 trillion during 2019-20. Also, it has one of the largest power generation capacity and the well-established electric grid. Gujarat is the first state to electrify all it’s villages and stands today with surplus power capacity. Due to the large refinery set up a presence in Gujarat in cities of Surat and Jamnagar, the state is also known to be the petroleum capital of India. The city of Surat in Gujarat is the fastest growing city in India and also one of the cleanest cities to leave in the country. Also, Surat is known for its diamond business, accounting 72% of the world’s processed diamonds are from Gujarat. While the city of Ahmedabad, known to be Manchester of East has about 70% of India’s denim production. There are 41 ports and 19 domestic plus international airports in Gujarat. The state is also a part of DMIC – Delhi – Mumbai Industrial Corridor.

Culture of Gujarat: The culture of Gujarat is very much diversified and ethnic. It is a rich mix of heritage, traditions, customs, arts, crafts, languages, festivals, values, belief and more. The typical culture of the state of Gujarat is a balanced integration of Hinduism, Islam, Jainism and Buddhism. Also the deep culture of Gujarat is not static and the elder or senior generation of the family take serious care that the values and traditions are equally passing to the next generation. However, Gujaratis are not only the value bound people, but they are also very much experimental and world travelers with enthusiasts about learning new things, experimenting with new businesses, and exploring new horizons. Religious plays a deep role in the culture of Gujarat and Gujaratis. Most of the festivals are also celebrated with religious motives. The true culture of Gujarat does not only limit to their geographic location but it is widespread to every corner of the world and now recognized as international Gujarati culture through NRGs – Non-Residential Gujaratis.
